Seasons
Winter
...is really cool. I like winter. The snow, the lack of heat and light, the short days and long nights, it's quite awesome. And with Christmas, of course the best time of the year is in winter.
Fall
I know, some people talk bad about fall, but I welcome it every year. It's a time of new hope after enduring the most painful months of the year, ready to start the aforementioned season.
Summer
These are the most horrible few months of the year. The heat is torturing whatever poor soul needs to go outside. The brightness of the sun hurts my eyes. The thick air makes it hard to breath.
Spring
But by far the worst part of the year is spring. It's the time when everyone else is happy. Everyone else is looking forward to summer (for whatever reason). Everyone else sees it as a ray of hope after months of darkness.
Don't get me wrong, I like spring days, the calm temperatures and the dim brightness of the sun, like the next guy. But for me, it marks the end of the good times and the beginning of the horrible ones instead of the other way round.
Spring is my time for depressions and feeling lost. Sure, I'm having these feelings all year, but in spring, they hurt more than usual. Where will I ever reach? Where did I come from? Nowhere. I'm walking on the spot.
So?
The worst part is that it's my own fault. I don't have to be that way. I don't have to be lonely. I knew I chose it. In fact, I'm glad I chose this path. But every few weeks, the thought raises its ugly head upon me, and I hate myself again.
And in spring, I can't even blame it on the weather.

Win a free Nintendo 3DS game!
The contest has ended. Congratulations to the winner and only participant! I have removed the details of the rules now, as they are not really important any more.
As I announced earlier today, Amazon told me I can get one of three 3DS games for free, and I'm not really interested in either of them. So, for the EU region*, I'm holding a contest to win a 3DS game!
If you win, you can choose between the European (specifically, German) versions one of the following three games:
- Asphalt 3D
- The Sims 3
- Super Monkey Ball 3D
To participate, submit a piece of artwork in a reaction to this post. If you wish to take part in the contest, you'll also need to specify an ICQ#, AIM ID, Windows Live account name, Skype ID, or an e-mail address so I can contact you to get your shipping address. Alternatively, you can also link me to an external website that has some equivalent to private messages. Any entries without contact information will be disqualified.
The entries can be any piece of art: a drawing, painting, song, story, poem, whatever you can think of. But it is important that
- The artwork is specifically made for this contest, and
- I will like it!
[Snipped detailed rules]
* As opposed to DS games, 3DS games are region locked. Therefore, only people from the same region the game is bought in can use it. I think the European region also includes Australia, but I'm not sure! If you're from Australia, the game might not work for you if you win! Also, I cannot say for sure if the game contains any other than the German localization, but I think it should. People from outside the region can still play along, but won't be considered when choosing who gets the prize. Just tell me you don't want the prize and / or don't post contact information.
Amazon (DE) tells me I can get one out of three 3DS games for free because I pre-ordered my 3DS. Now which one to get?? I could get Asphalt 3D (not really into racing games that much...), The Sims 3 (actually I was through with this series after the first rendition and a few add-ons) or Super Monkey Ball 3D (didn't really like the one on Wii, also I heard this one's not as good). I actually wasn't interested in any launch title, in particular not in these three. But now I have to choose...

Note to self: You're doing it wrong. If you think you can get anywhere, you know it has to be on a different path. But you know you don't actually think you should even be trying to get anywhere. It's just wrong. Stop it. You can't win.
Hoping this won't be another stupid thought that's going to bother me for years for absolutely no reason. The other one hasn't even really worn off, and I'm sure I'll get a refresher on that one some time, too. You gotta sort your mind out... but how?

The meanest thing is that I can hardly just leave the thing unfinished like this, it's... impossible!

RGSS surprises
I'm working on a workaround for Hermes, but that requires me to re-define every RGSS class... I'm not sure if that will be faster in the end. We'll see.

Smooth scrolling script v2
(TXT, 3.6 KB)I don't know what this script does anymore or how it works, I just keep adjusting things until it looks good xD
(Tested at default walk speed, I have no idea how / if it works at different walk speeds. Also not tested but should work with "scroll screen" event command.)
Also, if anyone else sees this, I guess the script is free to use (or is it, Yin?).
Maybe Soup is currently being updated? I'll try again automatically in a few seconds...
